Our Story
I grew up on a coffee farm in Harar, eastern Ethiopia. My father was one of the few farmers who supplied coffee seeds to others in the region, a process that required deep knowledge and skill. Watching a tiny seed grow into a thriving coffee tree fascinated me and sparked my lifelong love for this incredible plant.
Harar produces some of the finest coffee in the world. Farmers here have a tradition of predicting the quality of the harvest by observing the leaves. In the local language, they say, “Yoo Baaloo Bareede, Buna Bareede”—if the leaves are vibrant, the coffee will be exceptional.
At Baaloo Coffee, I’m honored to continue this legacy. Our family farm is still in operation, and we work closely with local farmers to bring exceptional Ethiopian coffees to the world.
